24 Music Through the Decades Trivia Questions for Work Teams
Music trivia usually splits a room into two camps: people who know every chart fact cold, and everyone else who checks out. This pack aims for the middle — 24 questions spanning the Jazz Age to the streaming era, mixing gimmes with the kind of production history that surprises people who'd call themselves music fans.
The difficulty is deliberately mixed. A few are easy wins (nobody misses which city the Beatles are from); a few are genuinely surprising — the Auto-Tune release year and the 8-track/cassette mix-up both catch people out. Every answer is on this page if you want to check it before hosting.
It runs as a live team quiz: share one link, everyone answers on their own device, and a live leaderboard updates after every question. No accounts, nothing to install.
How to run this with your team
- Good for an end-of-week wind-down, or paired with the movie trivia pack for a two-round pop culture session. Ten minutes each covers a full sync slot with variety.
- Draw a subset, don't run all 24. The defaults draw a shuffled 12 of the 24 — about ten minutes at 20 seconds a question, with the rest held back for a rerun.
- Use Pause & Discuss on the decade questions. People have strong (and often wrong) opinions about which decade a genre "belongs to" — pause, let the room argue, then reveal.
- Ask who's actually old enough to remember the Walkman. With content spanning a century, the leaderboard often tracks less with music knowledge and more with who's the office's resident vinyl collector.
